CITB Rules

Course Attendance & Requirements

To successfully complete this course, you must attend every scheduled day for the full required hours. You cannot leave for appointments or other commitments during course time. Breaks will be scheduled throughout the day by the tutor. Partial attendance is not permitted, and missing any session will require you to retake the entire course from day one. Additional fees may apply as outlined in our terms and conditions.

Language Requirements

You must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Pre-Course Requirements

Completion of the DIF and IAF forms is mandatory before attending. Failure to submit these forms will result in your exam results not being submitted for certification.

Technical Requirements

  • A reliable internet connection capable of supporting audio and video
  • Access to Microsoft Teams and sufficient IT skills to navigate the platform
  • A laptop or PC with a working camera, microphone and speakers, mobile phones and tablets are not allowable

Learning & Participation

  • Inform Tunnel Engineering prior to the course if you have any learning difficulties. These must be supported with either:
    • Official documentation from a qualified practitioner relevant to the difficulty/disability, or
    • Confirmation from your employer that reasonable adjustments are provided in the normal working environment to support the difficulty/disability
  • If under 18, obtain written permission from a parent or guardian
  • Arrive on time; entry will be denied if you are more than 15 minutes late
  • Actively participate in group discussions and present your work

Exam Requirements

You must show photo ID on the first day. Acceptable forms include:

  • Passport
  • Photo Card Driving Licence
  • Photo Work ID Card showing current employer
  • Photo EU Country ID Card
  • Photo CITB Scheme Card

You must have a suitable exam environment: a quiet room with a clear desk, no notes, and be alone during the exam.

Remain visible on camera for the duration of the course and exam.

Certificates are issued by CITB and may take up to 42 calendar days to arrive.

Professional Conduct

  • You should not be expected to work during course hours
  • Mobile phones must be switched off
  • Candidates must be in separate locations; two candidates from the same company cannot sit the exam in the same room

Exam Retake Policy

  • If you do not pass, you may resit for free on the same day if your score meets eligibility criteria
  • If you choose to resit on another day, a fee of £50 + VAT applies, and it must be completed within 90 days
