Course Overview

The CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) course is a two-day training programme designed for individuals on construction, building, infrastructure, refurbishment or maintenance sites who have, or will have, responsibility for managing and coordinating temporary works.
This Temporary Works Co-ordinator course forms part of the CITB Site Safety Plus portfolio and aims to equip delegates with a recognised baseline of knowledge and understanding of the role of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator under the relevant standards (including BS 5975).

Delegates should have a good understanding of written and spoken English and some relevant site experience of temporary works or managing site operations. 

Course duration and assessment 
The CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) course runs over two days delivered via classroom or virtual format. On successful completion delegates receive the official CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years. 

Eligibility criteria 
To attend the TWC course delegates should ideally have some experience of temporary works or site management, although there are no strictly formal prerequisites in many cases. 

What You'll Learn

By completing the Temporary Works Co-ordinator course, delegates will be able to:
    - Recognise the need for and duties of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator and understand the roles of other parties involved. 
    -
Understand and apply the principles of BS 5975 (or latest version) for temporary works procedures and falsework design in the context of site coordination. 
    -
Apply risk assessment, method statements, temporary works register management and safe systems of work relevant to temporary works. 
    -
Use the “4 Cs” — communication, coordination, cooperation and competence — as a framework for managing temporary works safely and effectively. 
    -
Demonstrate a structured approach to the temporary works process from initiation through to design, check, install, monitor and removal.

The TWCTC Course is carried out over 2 days, and contains 5 modules:

Module 1 – What are temporary works?

Module 2 – The history of temporary works

Module 3 – Who is involved with temporary works?

Module 4 – Planning temporary works

Module 5 – Managing construction, erection and dismantling of temporary works

Prerequisites

Delegates should have a working knowledge of temporary works and health and safety in construction. It is recommended that they have previously completed the Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) course or have relevant experience in managing temporary works.
